Mother consoles son

CHAPTER 7
Mother consoles son

Rekha was cooking in the kitchen. She heard Anand come in. Anand went straight into the bedroom and fell on the bed crying bitterly. Rekha was shocked to hear the sound of crying. She rushed to the bedroom.
Anand was lying on the bed crying bitterly. Rekha was shocked to see Anand crying. She sat beside him and took him in her arms. Anand looked up at his mother and continued to cry. Rekha wiped his cheeks kindly. She caressed his head and asked kindly, “What happened, Anand?”
Anand looked at his mother with tearful eyes. Rekha was shocked to see Anand’s swollen cheek. Her eyes were filled with tears for her son. She felt sorry for the small boy. But she knew her husband very well and understood what must have happened. She tried to console the boy.
She hugged the boy lovingly. Rekha said, “I told you not to go there. But you insisted on going. You know how your father is.”
With tears falling from his eyes, Anand cried, “Mommy, he spoilt all my money. See how he hit me.”
Rekha looked at his face and wiped his tears.
Anand said angrily, “I will never speak to him again.”
Rekha was shocked. “Don’t say like that. He is your father.” She pointed to the statue of Jesus and said, “Look at the statue of Jesus on the cross. He suffered so much and yet he forgave everyone. Let us pray to him so that your father will become a good man.”
Anand looked at the statue of Jesus with tearful eyes. He nodded and wiped his tears. Suddenly he remembered the promise he had given to Avinash. He was worried. How can he fulfil the promise?  How can he pay Avinash’s fees? Maybe Avinash will be removed from school.
Anand asked, “But Mommy, what about Avinash? What shall we do about his fees? I had promised to help him.”
Rekha thought for a while. And then she looked at him kindly.
She gave him assurance by saying, “You don’t worry about that. I will do something. Avinash will continue to go to school with you.”
